Vacations in Pamporovo
Pamporovo has long been one of the preferred ski holiday destinations in Bulgaria. In recent years, however, with much funding for ski facilities, improvement in infrastructure and investment in quality hotel and complex building, it has gained much popularity and world renowned status.
This is an area submerged in natural beauty and is the pinnacle of Bulgarian traditions, culture and history. The Rhodope Mountains are the cradle of legends like Orpheus and are the source of many legends and stories. Perhaps it is the picturesque beauty of the mountains, with lush, ancient pine trees, air which carries the scent of freshness and pine and the momentous mountain peaks which rise to the clear skies, but most people have vivid memories of their journey to Pamporovo or any other populated place nearby. The hospitality of the Rhodope people is one of their best and well known traits and has engendered the old saying “He who sings bears no evil”. And the Rhodope people sing and make beautiful music.
Those in Pamporovo especially for a ski vacation will enjoy the fact that the resort has 25 km. of ski runs and 38 cross country ski tracks which are serviced by 18 lifts. There are more than 100 qualified ski instructors who speak several languages and instruct beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
While on vacation, most visitors choose to spend at least a day in the town of Smolyan which is only al 15 minute drive from the resort. Additional vacation trips could include the stunning Bachkovo Monastery which is among the oldest Eastern Orthodox Monasteries in Europe. With stunning frescoes and an impressive architectural style set in the midst of a natural surrounding, it is a side trip worth taking.
